BeACCoN is Ontario’s Network for Primary and Integrated Health Care Innovations (PIHCI), and is part of CIHR’s Strategy for Patient Oriented Research (SPOR).

We are one of 11 Canadian networks that support the evidence-informed transformation of primary and integrated health care. These PIHCIs aim to foster a new alliance between research, policy and practice in order to develop, evaluate and scale up new approaches within and across healthcare sectors, as well as outside the health sector (e.g., education, social services, housing). The PIHCI Network focuses on individuals with complex health needs (a relatively small subgroup of the population that accounts for significant health care utilization and cost) where integration of care and prevention are crucial to improve patient experience and health, health equity and health system outcomes. The PIHCIs facilitate and support collaborations between government, health authorities, health professionals, patients and researchers.

Our strategy is to seek out, develop, and facilitate adoption of health care innovations to improve Ontario’s health care delivery system.
